Jennifer lives in Peterborough, is 28 years old and has Downs Syndrome. She started rhythmic gymnastics in 2008 with the Kandoo club at Werrington Centre on the Special Olympics programme. Her first major competition was the National Games of 2001 in Cardiff, where she won 5 medals, including 3 gold! She has competed for the East of England team at Glasgow 2005, Leicester 2009 and Bath 2013, winning a further 15 medals and she is looking forward to being part of the team for Sheffield 2017. Outside of gymnastics Jennifer takes part in cheerleading with Unity All Star Gold, the first competitive additional needs team in the UK. She has performed at Disneyland Paris, Nottingham Arena, Olympic Park London, Bournemouth BIC and in Birmingham for the Britain’s Got Talent auditions, plus many charity events. Jennifer also attends ballroom and Latin dance classes and has achieved up to Gold Bar 3 in Latin. She is also a member of the Harlequins drama group (mainstream) and enjoys performing on the stage in musicals and drama productions. She attends the YMCA gym up to 3 times per week and Zumba sessions one evening. Her latest activity is with the Wildcat Dance Academy, funded by the Peterborough Downs Syndrome Group, where she is learning tap and street dance. Jennifer is always busy and enjoys all of her activities with a smile, willing to try everything that comes along.
