We are immensely proud to announce that one of our junior athletes, Karim Chan has been selected to represent Great Britain in the Inaugural World Para Athletics Junior Championships in Switzerland.
At just 16 years old, Karim will be competing among 14 other strong GB contestants in the long jump event taking place in Notwill from the 3-6th August.
This talented young athlete suffers from Autism Spectrum Disorder, we are very proud to see how far Karim has come since starting athletics in 2013 to competing in the 2017 World Para Athletics Grand Prix in Dubai, finishing fifth in the F20 long jump with a leap of 5.68m, along with his many other great achievements.
Karim’s latest jump was 2017 Midland Senior & Under 20’s Championship with an astonishing distance of 5.93.
GB para-athletics head coach Paula Dunn is confident that The World Para Athletics Junior Championships will provide valuable opportunity and gain rewarding experience in the major game’s environment.
The progress Karim has made in such a short space of time will surely reach new heights as we build towards the Tokyo Paralympic Games in 2020.
We have no doubt that Karim will soar high and continue to be an inspiration to us all.
